What's: BASIC
BASIC stands for "Beginners All Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code", a programming language which was built in into the
ROM-chip of the first Commodore C64 home computers in 1982.
Originally, the language developed already in 1963 and was enhanced by Bill Gates into Altair-Basic in 1975. Out of this the first personal computer versions GWBasic or QBasic derived as well. More modern versions still exist today under the name VisualBasic or Blitzbasic. As Basic is rather easy to learn it is recommended for beginners.
