What's: CD ROM
An enhancement of the CD standard for computers. While the original specifications of a CD feature a speed of 150 kb per second (1x), new drives are able to read with a speed of several MegaByte (MB) per second. The speed of the drive (12x, 48x ...) is always referring to the orignal speed of 150 kb/s (1x).
CD-ROMs can hold of maximum of 650 - 700 MB of data, no matter if audio, video or text.
