PCI is a card interface on the mainboard. A distinction is drawn between card interfaces with ISA, PCI ports and AGP interfaces for modern graphic cards.
PCI interfaces are used for enhancement cards such as sound cards, modem or ISDN cards, older graphic cards or controller cards, offering the mainboard additional interfaces for SCSI or USB.
