What's: Screensaver
The original purpose of a screensaver is to protect the monitor from a burn-in of the displayed image.
This is not a problem anymore for new monitors, they should even tolerate several hours or even days without a screensaver. As the screensaver is mainly used for fun nowadays, users with old monitors should pay attention that the screen does not look the same for a long time.
If the screensaver does not install itself automatically, the .SCR file has to be removed to the directory c:/windows or c:/windows/system by hand.
The installed screensavers can be selected and edited in the dialogue window "display properties". This window can be retrieved under start / control panel / display.
