What's: DSL
A DSL (Digital Subscriber Line; also ADSL - asynchron digital subscriber line) connection is a fairly new and fast possibility of internet access. It offers a
download speed starting from 768 kbit per second which is up to 30 times faster than a 28.8 modem or approx. 12 times faster than ISDN (one line).
The
upload speed adds up to 128 kbit / s and is as fast as the parallel use of both ISDN lines. In order to make use of DSL, the PC needs to have an
ethernet or network card. Additionally to the ISDN access a DSL modem (also called NTBBA) and a splitter (BBAE) which separates telephone and DSL transmission is necessary.
