A download is the transport of data from the internet onto your computer. (Drivers, programs, but also images and HTML pages when you visit a webpage).

IF you would like to download software, for example from the Computerhilfen download area, you will be asked to "execute on the server" or to "save on data carrier". You should always choose the second option in order to have all required files on your hard drive.




First of all, you will be asked where to save the file. You can choose a folder with the black arrow (see picture: red arrow indicates it).

The desktop as the saving location is recommended, because the icon of the program appears directly on the desktop and you can click and start it immediately.





As soon as the download is completed, doubleclick the program's icon. In case a note appears to indicate a program to open this file, you need additional software.

In most cases, it is about a packed archive in the format ZIP or RAR (file extension: ".zip" or ".rar").

In order to install the downloaded software, search for a "setup" or "install" file.
