Why? What happens if you try to install an SP? or another update? Do you get error messages (what kind of?) ?

1 it could be your system,not enough memory, Win XP SP2 disk might not be original, slow CPU, if you have anyone of these you might not be able to install the OS. to run WinXP SP2 at least 512MB Ram, it will take up 1-2 GB of hard drive space,and 800MHz system or better Good luck

..my suggest, first install xp1 from your cd and then go download xp2 from webside. keep the downdload for further.

Check if your Windows is original, check on microsoft.com (http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/Validate.aspx?displaylang=en&sGuid=2134bda7-3527-486c-936d-884e70d44541)
If not, you could build a Windows disc with nLite.
