HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA Device (Vista) - Solution
To solve annoying Windows errors, you might want to try a Windows Registry Check. In most cases, optimizing the Windows registry will speed up your Windows.
I went exactly trough the instructions, restarted and then nothing happened... still doesnt recognize the device
I get this problem in the device properties:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
what now??? Please Help... this message appeared immediately after i followed the instructions... Infact i read that I was suppossed to note the values AFTER I changed them...

I tried the window registry change as listed in the help forum to no avail. Doing so also seemed to affect my magicjack. What else can i do to get my DVD/CD driver back? this all occured due to an iphone update.

Re: Win Vista: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA Device - Solution
I've done the entire thing listed in here, but there's 2 problems. There are no upper/lower filters. Also, my drive is recognized, but it keeps spinning up/down (aka trying to find a CD that IS in there, but it won't recognise it. I've tried various things - installing, uninstalling, etc etc. CDGONE fix, everything. Could someone please give me a quick hand on this?
Same problem as the two dudes above - dvd is recognised by laptop, but cannot play dvds - there are not Upper/Lower filters in the registry.Laptop is Asus F5V Series. If someone can help, pls - alexander_r@abv.bg

Same problem on an Acer Aspire 5520 running windows7.....I could see the dvd/cdrom in the device manager but it would not work. Tried uninstalling the driver and then the dvd/cdrom disappeared. Nothing works....windows 7 troubleshooting does nothing.
First of all: Is there any new CD/DVD Software installed lately? Like a Burning programm? Try to delete it, does this solve any problems?

Find the properties “UpperFilter” and “LowerFilter” and modify the value to 0. If there is only one property available, set only that value to 0. Be sure to remember the old value in case something went wrong and you have to restore the settings!
If you have no entries for UpperFilter and LowerFilter, have you tried to add these entries with value "0"? Just adding Upperfilters might be already enough.

Thank you very much my CD ROM is now working but. You don't change the lower filter and upper filter to 0 but rather you delete them from the system and it will work

Re: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA Device (Vista) - Solution
This fixed my problem. Though, instead of it working when changing the registry value to "0", it only worked when I deleted them instead of plugging in zero.
Thanks again!

Thanks to you whomever recommended the Automated Troubleshooting Services(Microsoft Fix it) tip. My DVD/CD-Rom player is back up and running with just one click of the mouse. The program analyzed the problem and located the missing drivers in mere seconds. Yeah, I am very excited, Thanks again
