I just bought from private a MEDION Digitainer with a integrated SAT receiver and a 200 Gbyte Harddisk.
I want to tune it up. Is there a possibility to install a software for preparing recordings?
Is it possible to use a faster CPU than a Celeron 850 MHz?
How much memory can be installed?
It is a VIA Mainboard and one PCI-Slot is free...

Ich habe mir vor kurzem einen MEDION Digitainer von Privat gekauft. Es ist das neuste Modell mit einer integrierten 200 GByte Festplatte und einem SAT Receiver.
Ich würde die Kiste gerne tunen. Kann man auf dem Digitainer eine Zusatzsoftware zum Videobearbeiten installieren?
Kann man den 850MHz Celeron ohne Probleme tauschen?
Und wie sieht es mit dem Speicher aus? Kann man den ohne Probleme erweitern?
Hi Matt, the digitainer seems to be just a normal PC with a "stereo frontend". I have an old (but cool ) Schneider Surfstation, were i just changed the harddrive against a new one and could then easily install windows - or any other software. Maybe you could fit 2 harddrives, so you can boot windows and then edit the recorded movies on the other hdd?
Or, try to boot Knoppix: Its a full cd-loading linux and you can access your data / copy them to a "real" pc for editing.
Hi Habe den Digitainer (neue Version ) . Habe Ihn ein wenig getunt . Anstelle des 850 Celeron läuft nun ein 1000 PIII. Habe desweiteren den Speicher auf 512 MB hochgeschraubt. Das Teil läuft jetzt ganz ordentlich.
@Matt: If it has an USB or Firewire port and you can access the harddisk... But you should try the free Knoppix once, its easy to start and save your data - see video (sorry that parts are in german...)
