The onboard (MSI K9NBPM2-FID) Ethernet does not connect router (D-Link DI-524)

The onboard (MSI K9NBPM2-FID) Ethernet does not connect to the router (D-Link DI-524) with SuSe 10.1. Local loopback 127.0.0.1 pings OK (ca. 80 us) and SuSE tells the connection being OK, but nothing outside the computer responds to pings or other connect requests. The router is at 192.168.0.1 and has DHCP service working. The physical connection works OK when running MS Windows XP Pro with other (changeable, not dual boot) hard disk. I suspect the Ethernet driver (nVidia Quatro NVB 210s / nForce 430 / ALC882 chipset, BIOS AMI v.5.3) because of the rare chip set, but can not find the module to fix.

Hi Sakari Mattila,

your chipset should be supported by forcedeth - but it seems like the project has come to an end!?

http://www.hailfinger.org/carldani/linux/patches/forcedeth/

Yet there's another driver that may fullfil your needs - actually written by nVidia!

http://http.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/nforce/1.0-0310/ReleaseNotes.html

Please read the the above documents carefully and report about your progress.

Happy computing Smiley
