Downloaded a critical update for Onenote and Office,it said it was a SP3 from Microsoft update, although I understand now that there is no SP3. Attempted to reboot. Got a blue screen with the following; Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_or_Equal Stop: 0X000000D1 (0X00000018, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0XF71FA25D) Lastor. SYS- Address F71FA25D base at F71EB000, Datestamp 422F3bcc. I have a Gatewaynotebook using Windows XP. Gateway service by phone was no help. Computer will not enter safe mode, it just attempts to start, goes to black screen giving start up options (none of which work) then counts-down and recycles itself. Really need help if possible please. Thanks, Trimman NOTE: Went to Microsoft support, found article # 925793, followed link to request a hotfix from them. No response as yet
Note: Hotfix I received from Microsoft did not work, was on phone conference call with Microsoft and Gateway for over two hours. End result, pay to have files retreived from harddrive, save them to discs, wipe harddrive clean and reinstall OS.
My suggestion to all: Be sure that the critical updates you are downloading are an absolute necessity for your PC and be prepared to pay dearly to have your files retreived if it becomes necessary to do so !!!
I have a gatewaynotebook running windows xp too, and i am also getting the exact same message, however, i didnt download anything. it was working fine, then i ran out of battery. when i plugged it back in this is what was happening. i talked to gateway and apparently the only option i have left is to reload the os because nothing else is working. any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated because i really dont want to lose all of my data.
..did you allready try to boot, with your xp-cd, when the option Installation shows, you can also choose the Repair Mode, this is what I would try first. ..if your computer dont automaticly boot from Cd, you will have to Enter(F2) the bios setup to change the boot device to Cd.
