Microsoft has time until Thanksgiving, to provide relevant source code of the next Windows Operating System, Vista, to rival firms. If not, Microsoft could get punished with a daily fine of f up to 3 million euros (US$3.85 million), says Reuters.
I did not know, that a concern, has to show freely his source code for a program. Ok, this case is a special one, but what is with patent protection? Where have you found this statement?
