I'm so sick of windows and i'm looking for alternatives. I dont really know where to start and I dont know anybody using another system. Anyone of you not addicted to windows??
of course there are a few alternatives, but keep in mind that you then cannot use your old software, games etc.
I always recommend MacOS X from Apple. Its a very good, easy to use and secure (no virus) system. But, you need new software AND new Apple Hardware too.
Second is Linux. You can install it on a standard PC and do all the normal stuff like writing letters (OpenOffice), listening to music or burning cds. And: Its free. Your first start might be SUSE LINUX, its really easy to use and looks a bit like windows. But before, you could download Knoppix: Its a "test-me" Linux: You boot from CD, take a look if you like Linux etc, before you really install Linux.
