i have a compaq presario running windows xp home.my question is every time i try to boot up i get this message on my screen.
award bootblock
bios v1.0
copyright (c) 2000
bios rom checksum error
detecting floppy
drive A media
insert system disk and press enter
how do i fix this problem in laymans termsso i can get into windows.i'am just a novice so please go into detail how i can fix this.i put a new battery in an nothing happens.i will be grateful for all the help you can give me thank you ted

Hello Ted,

The BIOS rom checksum error means that ur BIOS is probably screwed up, go on the website of your mainboard´s manufacturer and make a BIOS Update.

Try to put out the battery on your mainboard for a few minutes and try it again.

Otherwise u can try to create a floppy disk, but only if the floppy works, and put a new bios on the disk.
