Hi! Didn't you get a software with your camera? But on Windows XP, you get the free movie recording and editing tool "Windows Movie Maker". Connect your camera and record, make sure you use the "automatic clips" option.

Then put the movie clips in the right order into your timeline and export the movie as "WMF File". Youtube recommends a resolution of 320x240 pixels for the best quality.

I just found a nice introduction on how to make digital videos:
http://www.howstuffworks.com/video-editing.htm

Maybe this search for the V.irtual DUB programm also helps you:
http://www.google.com/search?q=virtualdub

It "is a video capture/processing utility for 32-bit Windows platforms (95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP), licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).  It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video".
