Title: how to clean TFT screens Post by: snowy on 15.11.06, 23:31:17 hello,
what you think, how should I clean my TFT monitor without breaking it!? ??? Title: Re: how to clean TFT screens Post by: JoSsiF on 15.11.06, 23:58:33 I think you won't break it that easy ;)
I always use usual windows (http://www.computerhilfen.de/fachbegriffe-w-Windows.html) cleanser and a soft cotton towel for cleaning the display. cheers 8) JoSsiF Title: Re: how to clean TFT screens Post by: nico on 16.11.06, 11:01:15 STOP! do NOT use chemical cleaning tools, or any cleaning stuff that is not meant for PCs!
Windows cleaner is meant for the glass windows in your house, not for computer hardware. There are special cleaning towels and utilities available, but i always use the "Radtech Screensavrz": http://www.radtech.us/Products/NotebookScreensavRz.aspx In the worst case, you can ruin your screen with the wrong cleaner! Here are more tips i've found: The Liquid Crystal Display is extremly delicate. 1.) Never touch the screen for 2 reasons. a. You will kill pixels and leave permanent black spots. b. You will leave fingerprints 2.) Never wipe anything across an LCD screen, it will scratch the screen and you are applying pressure to it. 3.) If you never touch it then the only thing on the screen is dust. If you use canned air and blow it off from the side you should have a clean screen again. NEVER blow on the screem from the front as this will damage the screen. 4.) Do not use a feather duster or vaccume to dust the LCD screen, this can scratch the screen (http://www.short-media.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-3132.html) Title: Re: how to clean TFT screens Post by: JoSsiF on 16.11.06, 17:41:08 Oops! :-[
Sorry, I really didn't know anything about the risks of taking chemical cleaning stuff. And if I'm honest I never discovered any problems. My TFT is like a new one. Maybe I was just lucky to have a less aggressive cleanser ;) cheers 8) JoSsiF Title: Re: how to clean TFT screens Post by: O-Two on 29.11.06, 17:53:50 After you've cleaned it, you can buy a nano particle rag and wipe over the display. (http://www.computerhilfen.de/fachbegriffe-d-Display.html) Now dust, grease or water won't stick any more.
Title: Re: how to clean TFT screens Post by: Deborah on 01.12.06, 17:47:26 Most windows cleaners will take the anti-glare layer of your screen (this goes for televisions too, so never clean your television with it unless you want a televisionscreen that mirrors you very well). That's like frustrationthing number 1 for alot of men when they come home in a clean house, finding their tv and computerscreen all shiny ;) (yes honey, thank you for cleaning *AAAAARGHHHH*).
They sell some special stuff in computerstores for it, and sometimes even in supermarkets (have seen it this week at least). Just always be careful with it. Title: Re: how to clean TFT screens Post by: O-Two on 01.12.06, 18:26:59 I have a Samtron 98PDF. As far as I know, it has 2 screens, at least it looks like this. The first 1 is a normal "pane" and the second one beneath the first one looks milky. So you don't really realize reflecting lights behind you very much. Also it has a flat screen (http://www.computerhilfen.de/fachbegriffe-s-Screen.html) without a bulge.
That's great. Title: Re: how to clean TFT screens Post by: nico on 10.02.07, 12:10:40 HP has an instruction online: Cleaning your Notebook PC
Clean the Display LCD screens accumulate smudges and scratches all the time. To clean these, choose a non-abrasive cloth or towel. Plastic and glass cleaners containing ammonia may leave a glare-causing film, so use a computer monitor specific cleaner from a computer store. Spray the cleaner onto the cloth, then wipe the screen with it. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00292159&lc=en&cc=de&lang=de&rule=40354&dlc=de&product=1842189
