Apple has published his final version of Safari 4, it was announced at the WWDC developer’s conference. The browser, which can be downloaded for free, was already available for some time now a beta version, and is now to be downloaded as full version.
There are several changes to be seen in the new version of Safari. There is no ‘reload page’ button anymore next to the ‘next’and ‘back’ button. This function has moved to the url bar, just like in Microsoft’s IE. It is not possible to move this button back to it’s old place again.

In the Windows version of Safari, even more has changed. The program looked like a Mac program out of place in windows, and is now more designed to look better in the Windows environment.

With the function ‘top sites’ it’s possible to see all favourite websites in one glance. Which ones are favourite, is decided by Safari by looking at how many times these websites have been visited before. If websites that are shown here should be hidden, this can be changed by going to options and put these websites on ‘hide’.

In total, Safari has about 150 new functions, including multi touch support on the Mac, changeable size of characters for inputfields, cover flow for characters, support for CSS characters, effects and more.

Also in speed Safari has improved and has beaten it’s competition: only Google’s Chrome comes close to it.
