The end of Wikipedia? Google starts “Knol”

25th Jul 08 at 07:11 pm. Read 30 times. Trackback

iconGoogle Knol, an abbreviation of the word ‘knowledge’,is now online and usable for everyone. The new knowledge website will probably soon be an extensive encyclopedia, like Wikipedia.

Different from Wikipedia is that not everyone can change articles. At Google Knol only the author has the rights to change the text of his article. Mostly the author is an expert in the field of the subjects of his articles.

It is possible though, to make more articles about one subject, that can be rated seperately. Authors of good articles are ‘paid’ with a share of the advertisementprofits of google.
