End of March Sony’s Playstation 3 hits finally the european market. But instead using the meantime to improve the features, the european Playstation 3 version will have even less according to the german news site Golem.de who spoke to Sony’s UK headquarter.
The “Emotion-Engine-Hardware”, which was also built into the PS2 and is of major importance to provide compatibility to the previous consoles and its games will be removed in the EU version: Therefore a software emulation is implemented that reduces the compatibility to the classic games.

Arstechnica.com estimates the savings on the missing of the “Emotion-Engine-Hardware” to 27 US$, not including the development of the software emulation. A FAQ list from Sony, showing which games are still playable, is offline until the launchdate.
