The Shutdown Day starts in two hours. In these 24 hours users are encouraged to go out with friends or spend the time outside, for example. A month ago, more than 18.000 people had assigned to take part (announced by computerhilfen), now it is more than 55.000 users worldwide.
It takes part on a saturday on purpose. This way, Denis Bystrov and Michael Taylor, who organised the Shutdown Day, hope to motivate more participants who are able to live without the computer on weekends. In this offline self experiment, users are intended to find out if they are even able to spend a day without the computer anymore. (vck)
